Emerging from university can be daunting, especially without solid plans for the future. There's the pressure of securing a job, saving money, and finding a new place to live. Fortunately, an opportunity to work as a live-in nanny provided me with these essential postgraduate elements. Post-education, I was uncertain about my future. One thing was clear: I didn't want to revert to living at home after experiencing independence at university—a sentiment many students share. My hometown no longer held my social circle; my friends were now dispersed throughout the country or residing in London. With a love for children and a belief in my natural rapport with them, combined with a dream of living in London, becoming a live-in nanny seemed an enticing prospect. After distributing my CV to numerous potential employers, I received a promising response from Primrose Hill Nannies. They believed I was the perfect fit for certain families. With a newfound confidence and the unwavering support of Sophia, I secured an interview and, subsequently, a job! My daily routine as a live-in nanny varies significantly between term time and holidays. During term time, with both of my charges being school-aged, the pace is more relaxed. Starting at 7:30, I prepare them for school. A significant advantage of living in is that there's no morning commute; I can start the day right away. After the school drop-off, my tasks include cleaning the children's rooms, general admin, and handling their laundry and ironing. Caring for the family dog also falls under my remit, and he's a delightful daytime companion. Once chores are complete, I can explore London and relish some personal time. I also prepare meals for the children, aiming to have everything ready before fetching them from school and shuttling them to various activities. The school holidays are busier, but they also offer much joy. This live-in nanny role has been enriching. From day one, I was warmly integrated into the family. Our rapport was instantaneous, and the bond has only grown. Additionally, London's nanny community is vibrant. It's filled with remarkable individuals who understand the unique nature of our profession—a job without traditional co-workers. The idea of living in someone else's home can seem intimidating and it does require adjustment. However, all the great perks and experiences make it all worth it!
