Hi, I’m Felicity! I’m 27 and a year ago I was stuck in a rut faced with an ultimatum. I was in my fourth year of teaching, loving it one day and resenting it the next. It wasn't my team, the children, the hours or the workload but the frustration of never feeling like I was achieving enough, despite going that extra mile.

One evening, I was sat on social media and I came across 'A Day in the Life of a Nanny in London' video. I remember watching it again and again. Could I do this? Would I be going backwards in my career? Could I even live in a city? (I didn’t move away for university so this change would have been massive). Anyway... the seed was planted. Could I do it?

Fast forward, I handed in my notice in Easter, booked a holiday to Australia for August and moved to London in September. Big change. But I did it.

After finding lovely Sophia at Primrose Hill Nannies, she guided and supported me through every step of the way. Nothing was too much of a problem; from helping me adapt my CV to interview practice and honestly just answering every little question I had about anything.

Now, thanks to Sophia, I work for a family with three lovely children. I wake up every day excited to go to work, feeling appreciated and as if I am really making a difference. To answer my earlier question – will it be a step back? I now see my professional development has never been better. I have time to take the courses that I have always wanted to and I have the opportunity to implement strategies to better each child and give them the time and support they deserve. Most importantly, I am happy.

My advice, take a chance. Always. And if you ever wonder, can I do that? Trust me, you can. Oh, and also, have a Sophia. Someone who you can message at any time of the day and know that you’re going to be reassured and leave any situation smiling with a game plan.
